This season, INTRA Performance Group was proud to provide technical support to Women’s Super League Football.
In partnership with Performance Support Manager, Andy Hudson and INTRA Managing Director, James Collins, our goal was to foster a community of practice for nutrition practitioners across all 23 professional clubs from the Barclays WSL and WSL2.
Listening First: The Nutrition Services Survey
We began by conducting a Nutrition Services Survey to understand the current provision and identify the most pressing needs within women’s football nutrition. The survey focused on five key areas:
Personnel
Interdisciplinary collaboration
Catering
Supplementation
Service gaps
Turning Insight Into Action: CPD Roadmap
The findings shaped a CPD roadmap designed to directly support the priorities raised by practitioners. Key themes included:
Female athlete-specific nutrition
Body composition
Working on a budget
Research & innovation
Menu planning and collaboration with chefs
Delivering Practical, Practitioner-Led Learning
Led by INTRA’s Robert Naughton, we launched a series of monthly interactive workshops to deliver targeted, relevant learning. Each session was structured to:
Review where we are now - background on research & practice
Share best practices, challenges, and solutions (inc. case studies, where appropriate)
Open space for Q&A and discussion
Building a Supportive Community
We recognise the variability in service provision between clubs and the unique internal challenges each practitioner faces.
Being a practitioner in football can be a lonely place - and we're committed to continuing to build a connected, supportive community that shares knowledge and elevates best practices.
To learn. To share. To connect.
